Africa's Lake Natron Turns Animals into Stone ... Really!

Next time your dog destroys a pair of your shoes, remind him of Lake Natron in Northern Tanzania.

Quickly making their way around the web are these fascinating photos by Nick Brandt that show an eerie lake in Africa turning animals into stone. According to Brandt's new book, Across the Ravaged Land, Lake Natron in northern Tanzania is a death trap for birds and bats who appear to slam into it due to its surface's extremely reflective nature. Confused, the birds crash into the lake as if it is a plate glass window.

Temperatures in the lake can reach up to 60 °C (or 140 °F) and the water has an extremely high soda and salt content which causes "the creatures to calcify, perfectly preserved, as they dry."

These deceased birds and bats were found on the lake's shoreline and then Brandt arranged them in "living positions" to bring them back to life, albeit for a few seconds before they died. "Reanimated, alive again in death," he morbidly states.

Taylor Swift & Hailee Steinfeld Continue To Be Chums! But How Did They Meet?!

Is Selena being replaced?
We highly doubt that, Taylor Swift was just being a supportive buddy!
The I Knew You Were Trouble singer went to support her new BFF Hailee Steinfeld at the premiere of her new flick, Romeo and Juliet this past Tuesday night.
But we started to wonder a la Carrie Bradshaw: how exactly did these two become buds?!
The Romeo and Juliet star revealed they met through a mutual famous friend:
“We met, oh my gosh, like three years ago through our mutual friend Emma Stone."
Who knew that meeting would have been the start of a beautiful friendship?
We wonder if boys are ever a topic of discussion between the two…
"Oh yeah, of course. What else is there to talk about?"
Well, you can always go to Tay-Tay for boy advice, she always knows what’s best. Just ask Selenita!
Ahh! Besties for life!!

See Miley Cyrus’s Latest Tattoo

After her VMA performance, numerous twerk moments and outfits like this, we’re not really surprised by anything Miley Cyrus does anymore. But she managed to get our attention with her latest tattoo (and the location of said tattoo), because it’s actually pretty tame. Correction: It’s pretty tame … for her!

Cyrus celebrated her first Rolling Stone cover — on which she poses completely topless of course — by inking the magazine’s name on the balls of her feet.

“#rattatattat @RollingStone,” the 20-year-old singer shared on Instagram, along with a snap of her tat that reads “ROLLING $TONE.”

Keep up with your favorite celebs in the pages of PEOPLE Magazine by subscribing now.
“People get tattoos of the most f—-d up s—t,” she tells the magazine in the new interview. “Did you know Alec Baldwin has Hannah Montana’s initials tattooed on him? No, wait—Stephen Baldwin. He said he was my biggest fan, and I told him my biggest fans have tattoos. So he got ‘hm’ tattooed on his shoulder.”

Cyrus’s tribute to the mag marks the first tattoos on her feet, but the pop star has close to 20 more. Last year, she got a quote on her forearm from Teddy Roosevelt’s 1910 speech, “Citizenship in a Republic.”

“It’s about how people judge who wins and who loses, but they’re not the ones in there fighting,” she says. “It’s about critics.”

Interesting fact: Her ex-fiancé Liam Hemsworth also got a passage from the same speech on his forearm.

iHeartRadio Music Festival: Miley Cyrus Twerks Post-Split, Plus More Stars!

Vegas, baby!

A slew of artists rocked Sin City for the iHeartRadio Musical Festival, the star-studded bonanza held Sept. 20-21 that pulled together an eclectic mix of top hitmakers and their celebs admirers.

In what essentially amounted to a mega musical mashup, a bevy of chart-topping mainstays, including Elton John, Chris Brown, Robin Thicke, Katy Perry and fun., hit the stage at the MGM Grand – that is, when they weren't schmoozing with one another in between sets.

The shindig also featured Miley Cyrus's first performance since calling off her engagement to Liam Hemsworth.

Taking the stage in a tight white corset top and skimpy white shorts, Cyrus, 20, opened her set with "We Can't Stop" as people dressed as mushrooms, rainbows and flowers danced behind her. She later twerked with a barrage of little people who joined her onstage, happily slapping one's derriere.

At one point, a fan flung a pink bra at Cyrus, which she promptly tossed back at the crowd.

But the mood dramatically shifted when the pop tart launched into an emotional rendition of "Wrecking Ball," tears streaming down her mascara-stained face as she sung, "You'll never wreck me."

Of course, Cyrus wasn't the only one who made a splash at the bash. Check out these pics of the fest's biggest names, who provided ample stargazing ops for an amped-up crowd.

Elton John and TLC
Can you say crazysexycool? The Rocket Man rubbed elbows with the R&B songbirds – should we start getting our hopes up for a collaboration? In true Elton fashion, the rock icon electrified the audience with hits like "Bennie and the Jets" and scored a standing ovation by the time he hit his third song.

Brian May and Adam Lambert
Adam Lambert's wailing vocals have earned him countless comparisons to the late Freddie Mercury, so it's only fitting that the American Idol vet took the stage with the Queen to belt out anthems like "We Are the Champions."

Katy Perry and Drake
The pop star scored some face time with the rapper, just days after admitting that she and boyfriend John Mayer turn up Drake's hit "Hold On, We're Going Home" when they're feeling, um, romantic.

Robin Thicke
Looks like his erstwhile duet buddy Miley Cyrus isn't the only one flashing flesh these days: The "Blurred Lines" crooner suffered a wardrobe malfunction when both a button and his zipper popped.

Keith Urban and Jep Robertson
Unlikely pals? The county singer and the Duck Dynasty star rub elbows at the fest.

Kate Hudson
Nope, she didn't perform, but the actress was one of several celeb presenters on hand at the music blowout.

Most Revealing Emmy Dresses

Blake Lively, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, more who had some skin in the game on TV's biggest night

Jennifer Aniston, 2003
''Jennifer was looking for something hot and sexy,'' Elizabeth Mason of L.A.'s Paper Bag Princess boutique said of the normally demure Aniston's decision to wear a cleavage-baring 1970s vintage Halston halter dress. Though then-husband Brad Pitt was away filming in Mexico, the Friends star had a cheeky way of keeping him close as she walked the red carpet. ''I actually have a picture of him... on my underwear,'' Aniston told People.

Blake Lively, 2009
This is what we in the industry call a game-changing fashion moment. When the Gossip Girl star stopped to strike a pose in her crimson Versace dress — which featured a dangerously low plunging neckline and back line, and a hip-high front slit — jaws dropped, heads turned, necks craned, and though she wasn't even nominated, her name was suddenly on everyone's lips.

Lucy Liu, 2000
Talk about barely-there. The Ally McBeal star walked a fine line between fashion and felony in this illusion gown from Versace.

Sofia Vergara, 2012
Vergara's Zuhair Murad gown showed off her va-va-voom curves, but not much skin... that is until the back split open during the ceremony resulting in the most epic wardrobe malfunction in Emmys history.

Joanie ''Chyna Doll'' Laurer, 1999
Though Chyna Doll's studded leather, um, lattice dress looked like something straight out of the Xena: Warrior Princess clothing collection, it did allow the pro wrestler plenty of opportunities to show off her massive muscles on the red carpet.

Angelina Jolie, 1998
Years before the right leg pose heard round the world, Jolie proved she already knew that in her case, showing just a little skin can go a long way. The double Emmy nominee — for her roles in Gia and George Wallace — wore a nude Randolph Duke that played tricks on the imagination, but revealed only the actress' bare shoulders and a veiled leg.

Halle Berry, 2005
Nominated for her role in the miniseries Their Eyes Were Watching God, Berry was the definition of effortlessly sexy in a front-slit sapphire strapless gown by Emanuel Ungaro.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 1995
''I went to Giorgio Armani, they put this on me, and I said, 'Fine, hem it and I'll get out of here,'' the Seinfeld star told reporters of her cut way-way-down-to-there dress on the red carpet. Minimal effort, maximum impact. Co-star Jason Alexander described the frock as Louis-Dreyfus' way of ''dispelling the 'I'm one of the guys' image forever.''

Eva Longoria, 2007
The Desperate Housewives star bucked the tradition of wearing a long gown to the ceremony, choosing instead to slip into a glittering rock crystal mini dress — with plunging back line — by Kaufmanfranco.

Christina Hendricks, 2011
Her cups runneth over! The Best Supporting Actress in a Drama nominee drove men to distraction when she poured her curves into a Johanna Johnson gown in 2011. ''Uh, lots of anticipation about your dress,'' stammered E!'s Ryan Seacrest as he attempted to interview the Mad Men star.

Cheryl Hines, 2006
The tattoo detail on Hines' back was actually beaded embroidery on the sheer fabric of her Georges Chakra gown, or what the FUG girls called formal back shenanigans.

Heidi Klum, 2010 and 2012
The Project Runway host is always looking for new ways to show skin. In 2010, her supermodel legs and bare shoulders were on display in a Marchesa micro-mini. Last year, she opted for the cleavage dip and double leg slits in Alexandre Vauthier.

Olivia Wilde, 2009
The sheer yoke of net on the bodice of Wilde's mint green chiffon Marchesa proved she had nothing to hide.

Gwyneth Paltrow 2011
Did Paltrow really dare to bare in her midriff-baring Emilio Pucci gown? ''My dress is a little see-through, I'm realizing,'' the actress said of her sheer ensemble when she talked to E!'s Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.

Sharon Stone, 2004
Spaghetti straps, a peek-a-boo cutout, and a strategically-placed diamante clasp were the details that made Stone's lavender satin Elsie Katz Couture gown one to remember.

Kim Cattrall, 2003
Cattrall reportedly tried on 16 dresses before choosing to channel her Sex and the City character's style in a cut-out Giorgio Armani design.

Jennifer Aniston Is Pregnant!!

Hallelujah! It looks like we might finally have a little Jennifer Aniston in the world!
Not too long ago, we mentioned that the actress wanted to have fiancé Justin Theroux’s baby ASAP and she’s reportedly finally pregnant!
While she’s thrilled, we hear Jen is also a little bit afraid. According to UsWeekly:

“She is scared of having a miscarriage, given her age, so they are not saying anything until she is six months along. They’re extremely happy. This is the baby Jen always wanted.”

The actress is 44-years-old, but that’s about the same age as Gwen Stefani and she seems to be doing fine!
Don’t worry Jen, we can feel that it’s your time! Enjoy every moment!

Miley Cyrus Has STOPPED Following Liam Hemsworth On Twitter! Is This Their Break Up?!

Oh noes!
They've been trying to keep their romance alive and have denied all split and cheating reports, but this is serious evidence of a break up! We've suspected trouble in paradise for some time, but there's no denying the message attached with this move.
Miley Cyrus is no longer following Liam Hemsworth on Twitter!!!
After hinting at a possible split with her new song Wrecking Ball and the nekkid times music video, we might be getting the king of all hints as their social network relationship has changed.
While Liam is still following his twerking and foam finger lovin' lady, she has bailed on his Twitter…
…although her mom, Tish Cyrus, still follows him. Perhaps to keep an eye on Mileybird's former (?!) boy??
But good ol' dad Billy Ray Cyrus isn't a Liam fan on Twitter anymore!
Guess he's too busy mending his baby girl's achy breaky heart!
